Halloween Kids Books

I’ve been compiling a list of the books the boys liked the best this year and thought I’d do a quick Halloween post with a few of our favorites and ask for your suggestions. I love seasonal books and the boys really enjoy Halloween books. They might be my sister’s children. She is a HUGE fan of Halloween. I am just a huge fan of candy. And those Halloween animal skeletons that Target is carrying this year, but I just discovered Amazon also has.

So, please comment if you have a kids’ book you love (or loved) to read during Halloween!

Here are my favorites.

  1. Old Witch Rescues Halloween (oh wow, this must be a rare book the used prices are so high…)
  2. Old Witch and the Polka Dot Ribbon
  3. Creepy Carrots
  4. Room on the Broom
  5. Leo: A Ghost Story
  6. Mouse’s First Halloween
  7. Stellaluna (This isn’t a Halloween story, but it’s a story about a bat! So, kind of on theme.)
  8. It’s Raining Bats and Frogs
  9. Skeleton Hiccups
  10. Night Animals (Another one that isn’t a Halloween story, but for some reason it feels Halloween-y to me)
  11. Spooky Old Tree (This is the first book I remember reading all by myself, my parents hadn’t read it to me before I read it, so it felt like magic. Maybe this is why I like spooky things so much.)

Clearly, I need to do some library building.

Week 41 of 52

Hey, have I told you lated you can watch my movie on Amazon Prime for free?  WELL YOU CAN. You should, it’s Halloween Scary Movie time and you should go watch it. Or, just have it on in the background as you’re folding laundry. Or leave it on for your pet while you’re at work.  You know, if your dog or cat likes scary movies.

Read to the boys every day.

Is every week just going to be a busy week for me from now until the end of time?  Don’t answer that. We read last night, and I picked the books.  Goggles and Race Car Count.

Read 25 books (30/25) (not related to above)

I’m still reading What Happened and I finished The Westing Game, loved it. Started and finished Annihilation. It’s pretty creepy and I liked it a lot. I feel like the movie (judging by the trailer) has strayed a from the premise, but I don’t know. I started Her Fearful Symmetry last night and am immediately hooked.

Reduce debt to 45% of credit available (the amount of debt I’m carrying is my biggest stressor)

Nothing, oh well.

Go to the gym 30 times (29/30)

Got there another time. Truth be told, I seriously thought I’d be done with this goal in say… May. Oh, past me.

15 minutes of standing for every hour sitting at work

Floss every day

Not every day, but I did get a couple times in. I hate my teeth. Still thinking about this charcoal toothpaste craze.

Eat vegetables one time a week (41/52)

Yes, this is HANDLED.

Break phone addiction (phone off at 10pm at night and away when I’m not taking pictures or checking email at home)

I deleted twitter and facebook from my phone again. That helps.  A lot.

Get acupuncture 5 times (1/5)

I don’t know if I’ll be able to afford this. UGH. Acupuncture or shrink?

Go on 10 dates with S (8/10)

Yes! Seth works very close to me now, so we had the sitter stay late and had dinner together after work.  It was very nice.

Go away without the kids with S

We have hatched a plan to see The Pixies in Vegas, but honestly we can’t really afford it and I don’t know if we’ll pull the trigger.

100 acts of resistance (54/100)

I couldn’t make any calls this week. But I plan on picking up the phone again.
